E. K. Barber is the pen name of college professor and corporate trainer, Elaine Estervig Beaubien.

Elaine is an award-winning and highly respected educator, experienced trainer, accomplished speaker, published writer, and successful entrepreneur. She is a member of the tenured faculty at Edgewood College in Madison, Wisconsin teaching management, economics, and marketing to graduate and undergraduate students. She is also the CEO of Management Training Seminars traveling all over the world delivering high energy, high content presentations and seminars.

In addition to teaching, training, speaking, and consulting, Elaine writes and publishes business advice for several publications. She is also active in civic and community activities, lending her time and expertise to boards and committees.

At 50, Elaine wanted to continue to work, but not every day. She negotiated a part-time contract with Edgewood College and only works with corporate clients and associations on projects that interest her. Consequently Elaine decided to reinvent her life, reevaluate her work, and redefine her passions. A few years after semi-retirement, instead of moving forward on the journey she so successfully laid out over her 30-year career, she completely jumped the track.

At the turn of the millennium, having met all of her professional goals, E. K. returned to an earlier dream... to write and actually complete a manuscript of one of the several stories floating around her head. She reinvented herself and started a new path as a writer of romantic fiction.

Since the summer of 2002, just like Diana Prince, who removed her public persona to become Wonder Woman, Professor Beaubien periodically sheds her briefcase, PowerPoint presentations, and class notes to become... E. K. Barber, writer of romantic fiction.

Only her family and focus group of readers knew her secret. Writing under the pen name of E. K. Barber to protect her polished, professional persona, Professor Beaubien continued to teach business to graduate and undergraduate students, and consult with corporate clients by day... and by night she sat tapping on her laptop. By day: marketing, supply and demand, leadership, employee retention, communication and team building... and by night: love, lust, and intrigue. From the corporate boardroom and college classroom to the world of romance and suspense... from the pragmatic and practical to the provocative and romantic—now that is a paradigm shift!
